DYE TESTING

Drainage systems can be complex, and identifying all connections and water flow from the surface can be particularly challenging. Our team of highly trained expert engineers is ready to help you pinpoint the exact location of any issue.

What is the Dye Test?

Drain dye, also known as tracing dye, is used to detect the flow of water through drains or pipes connected to a property or network. It is also a technique for identifying individual drainage flows into a main drainage system, as well as for tracing illicit connections of contaminated water discharging untreated into rivers and streams.

During the test, non-toxic, 100% biodegradable dye components are used. The product is applied in access points, chambers, manholes, or area drains.
The sanitary sewer downstream is then monitored for the presence of dyed water, which, if detected, indicates a cross-connection between stormwater drains and the sewage system.
